White Rock-South Surrey Baseball all-stars headed to provincials

The White Rock-South Surrey Baseball Association?s 10-year-old all-star team is headed to provincials, after rolling through the district tournament last weekend.

At districts, held at White Rock?s Centennial Park, the host squad cruised through the schedule undefeated, and in the championship game, defeated their rivals from Whalley 12-5.

Pitcher Kole Turner was on the mound for White Rock in the final, and pitched four innings; he also tied the game at one point with an RBI double.

With the game tied 4-4 in the fourth inning, Rory Munro took over on the mound for White Rock, and got out of a bases-loaded jam that inning when his team turned an inning-ending double play.

White Rock plated seven runs in the decisive fifth frame to take the lead, and held on for the win.

Darius Opdam Bak pitched the last inning for the home side, to pick up the save.

The team will now represent District 3 at Little League Provincial Championships at Victoria?s Layritz Park from July 13-20.
